Building on the success of IICRA’s inaugural annual conference held on 21-22 December 2023, titled "Islamic Financial Transactions between Legislation and Practice," and having achieved its goal of enhancing the legal framework within the Islamic financial industry, IICRA is proud to continue this important work. In response to the growing needs and interests of professionals within the Islamic finance sector, we are organizing the second edition of our international conference titled "Updates on Codification in Islamic Finance: The UAE’s Legislative Expertise as a Model." The event will take place on Thursday and Friday, 28-29 November 2024, corresponding to 26-27 Jumada Al-Awwal 1446 AH, at the Kempinski Central Avenue Hotel, Dubai, UAE.
Under the esteemed patronage and presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq, Minister of Economy of the UAE, and in collaboration with the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), this year’s conference will emphasize the UAE’s pioneering legislative experience in codifying Islamic financial transactions. This event aims to provide invaluable insights and practical guidance to legislators globally engaged in shaping the Islamic financial industry.
The Islamic economy is a cornerstone of the UAE’s national economic strategy, as it is for other Arab and Islamic countries. Since His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, launched the "Dubai, Capital of the Islamic Economy" initiative, the Islamic financial industry has garnered substantial support and attention from the nation’s wise leadership.
The conference will showcase a distinguished lineup of speakers renowned for their unique professional and legal expertise. With the blessings of divine grace, we look forward to the participation of esteemed individuals. The conference is poised to attract a significant number of participants from across the globe, notably including legislators, lawyers, judges, arbitrators, and other key stakeholders from the Islamic finance industry, all eager to explore the future of comprehensive codification that will propel this industry to new global heights.
