His Excellency Mr. Tarish Eid Al Mansouri, Director General of Dubai Courts, welcomed a high-ranking delegation from the International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration (IICRA), headed by the Chairman of the IICRA Board of Trustees, His Excellency, Prof. Jassim Ali Salem Al Shamsi, and the Secretary General of IICRA, Dr. Rami Sulaiman Ibrahim, yesterday dated March 20, 2023.  

The attendees to the meeting discussed the ways to enhance joint cooperation with an aim to promote the culture of Islamic Arbitration as well as its mechanisms to support the Islamic economy - one of the main sources of the UAE economy. Further, it also strengthens the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, May Allah bless him with good health, to transform Dubai into a global capital of the Islamic economy and an ideal sole preferred destination specialized in settling Islamic financial disputes through Institutional reconciliation and arbitration which IICRA offers in the Emirates of Dubai as it has become one of the most important infrastructure institutions of the Islamic financial industry.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the areas of joint cooperation which includes seeking assistance from IICRA in preparing expert reports on Islamic banking disputes, providing judges and legal consultants associated with Dubai Courts with IICRA’s periodic bulletin, and coordinating with Dubai Judicial Institute to qualify and train judges in Islamic financial transactions and Islamic arbitration, as well as on the other areas of cooperation that serve the common goals.
